"Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford will undergo Tommy John surgery Thursday to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, the team said in a release Monday night.
"Carl Crawford has a chronic left elbow ulnar collateral ligament tear," the statement read. "While he has been following a conservative treatment protocol and playing with this injury, his symptoms are getting worse.
