So we can blame the rain for derailing what could have been a good start for Daisuke Matsuzaka, but what/who can we blame next start? Seriously, I'm being critical because performances like on Friday, 4 innings pitched, 7 hits, & 4 runs, shouldn't be put in a pitchers "good" category... The bullpen didn't do too shabby pitching 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, by way of Delcarmen & Okajima.
Getting things started early, Don said that the Phillies had the best defense in the Majors, but in the first inning, it sure didn't seem like it, the Sox plated 3 from errors, & another 2 from a Jason Bay home run. Then the Sox had a 3 run 5th, thank to Tek, Lugo, & Pedroia. Then a 2 run 7th thanks to Ellsbury & Jason Bay. & Jacoby homered in the 9th to make the final score 11-6. A couple side notes, Julio Lugo went 4-5, & Dustin Pedroia at least got one hit, an RBI single.
I expect nothing less than dominance from Josh Beckett tomorrow. But he'll deliver like he always does. I'm smelling sweep, but I can't get too ahead!
