After Months Of Complaining, Lowell Gets A Chance To Play (And Performs)

Mike Lowell hit a two run homer last night and made a spectacular defense play at first base...for a team that only gave him playing time because Kevin Youkilis got hurt.
Thats gotta be bitter sweet for Mike Lowell. This is a man who has been very open about his displeasure for the organization and the fact that he has been given a bench role this season.
Lets take a stroll through the past and look at some of the stuff the disgruntled, aging veteran has said:
Back in February, Mike Lowell say that he felt "betrayed" by the Red Sox when they tried to acquire Mark Teixeira a couple of off seasons ago (source: NESN.com).
In May, Lowell stated publicly that he was "frustrated" with lack of playing time (source: NBCsports.com).
Also back in May, Lowell said that he thought about asking Red Sox to release him, that the team would be better off without him on it and that he felt he was "eating up a roster spot" (source: boston.com).
Im just wondering why someone who has come across as such a classless sour-puss got a standing ovation last night.
I guess fans are buying into that fact that he has a reputation as being a "classy guy" and a "good clubhouse guy"...even though his comments are on the contrary.
