Lets do a little math... The Red Sox recent skid + John Smoltz tonight - Jason Bay for the next few games = A nation wide outbreak of heartburn!
Since coming back from the ALL Star break, the Red Sox are an embarrassing 8-10... and things don't appear to be looking up anytime soon. Sure, we're playing the Yankee's in a four game series, starting tonight. And for the first half of the season we punked them at will. But as many have pointed out, this isn't the same Yankee team we beat up on earlier in the year... Aroid is back, playing well (barf), Tixiera is now an MVP candidate (barf again) and their starting pitching has really gelled (I'm barfing all over myself).
But more importantly, OUR Red Sox aren't the same team as the one we saw early on. Possibly it's the "post trade deadline" no Roy Halladay Blues, or maybe the steroids revelations surrounding Big Papi. Whatever it is, our Sox are in a funk, and somehow that needs to stop. The first step in that process would be for Papi to talk about his name being on the Performance Enhancing Drugs list of 2003. He was supposed to talk earlier today, but instead postponed it until prior to Saturday's game in NY.
That's great... I just hope between now and then, our Sox haven't fallen further behind in the AL East.
