Buzzworthy - Feature It!

Holy crap people!

I went to bed  in the 9th inning of the game because I had a headache and was super tired. But I woke up to a firestorm of comments surrounding Big Papi and new comer Marco Scutaro.

Even at 7am, there was a huge amount of backlash towards the two. Big Papi hasn't had a hit and Scutaro made an error throwing to first.

But whoa! Come on now. WE'RE ONLY TWO GAMES INTO THE REGULAR SEASON!

Everyone makes errors sooner or later, I would rather have them do it now then later in the season. Scutaro had a fantastic year last year with Toronto. He has really improved despite his age. Personally, I think he was a great addition to the roster and if he makes an error, so be it. Maybe he isn't used to playing at Fenway. Maybe it was second day jitters. Maybe it was a simple miscalculation of distance to Youk's glove. It could be a lot of things but what's important is that last year he was a solid infielder and this year his goal is to do just the same. I don't think we should doubt his ability so quickly. The 162 game season isn't hopeless because he made an error in game 2.

As for Big Papi. I know I must have said this last season, but let's support him rather than jump down his throat. All the bad press is only going to stress him about more, especially with it being only TWO DAYS IN. He is only human after all. He has said before that he is a slow starter. Give him time to prove himself. I mean, look what happened last season. The first half was terrible, but the second half was better. Now, I understand that we could use his power in the beginning, but that may not happen. No one except for him knows how he is feeling. There is an article on Nesn.com in which Ortiz expressed how he feels about the early judgement. I don't blame him for being upset. I would be if I were in his position. If Ortiz was still struggling in May, June, July then, yes I too would be worried. But like I said, it's only a few days in. I don't think we have anything to worry about just yet.

Don't get me wrong my friends, I merely state what I feel. I don't mean to criticize or yell at. I'm just saying maybe we should relax a little bit. Today is only the third real game. Let's wait and see what happens, who knows, Ortiz and Scutaro could come out of this swinging.

What do you think? Does RSN have a right to be upset or should we relax a little and wait a few more games?

I am not impressed either, with the "new talent"! These guys are not rookies and they should be playing better and not making little league mistakes. I had Manny flashbacks but that these guys didn't even start out that good! I am staying Red Sox Nation faithful but Pedroia is right....the have to start playing better..this stuff we have been seeing is NOT acceptable!

Ginasguy..
Of course everyone needs to relax. While i will admit i have not been overly impressed by our new additions, it is early and it takes time for a team with new guys to gel or get into a groove. Just hope it's soon.

Well said, I agree we need to take it easy and realize baseball is a marathon and not a sprint. We have a long way to go. Everything will work work, we just need to give the team (and players) a chance.
