Off season prospects??

Buzzworthy - Feature It!
KeyLimePie wrote this 2 years agoPermalink

So on my daily religious check of such websites as Nesn.com and Boston.com, I stumbled upon a slide show of the 11 people the Red Sox should get in the off season. Shall I share?
Alright!

1) Jason Bay - Um YEAH. 4 years at 60 million dollars. Fine. Get him. (Please sign J-Bomb, for the love of all that is holy, you're making me nervous!)

2) Adrian Gonzalez - Alright! He would be a nice asset. Wouldn't mind it!

3) Felix Hernandez - Seattle's pitcher who went 19-5 with a 2.49 ERA? Yes please. I mean, imagine our rotation with that extra 'umpf'. Jon Lester, Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz, Felix Hernandez, Dice-K (?), Tim Wakefield (?). It would be a constant rotation of screwing with the opponent's batter's minds (aka Holy Terror Pitching Staff).

4) Matt Holliday - Another good prospect to think about if Jason Bay skips town (don't you dare!).

5) Roy Halladay - Meh. He's good. I like him. Just don't trade Buchholz for him.

6) Adrian Beltre - No thank you. Don't get me wrong readers, he's a good player. But I would rather see Mike Lowell and Youk play were they are. If Lowell needs a day off, put Youk on third and Victor Martinez on first. George Kottaras or Varitek can catch (if he so chooses to return).

7) Johnny Damon - No.

8) Marco Scutaro - I really like this guy. After watching him play when the Sox met with Toronto...he's earned the affectionate nickname of Scoots. If my roommate and I give a player a nickname, they're in. Yes, hes 33 but hes hella good. Plus with the shortstop position in limbo, we need a guy in there who is consistent.

9)Josh Willingham - He seems like a player that might thrive at Fenway given the chance, but he may be just a bargaining chip for another team.

10) John Lackey - 7.1 Innings of scoreless relief, impressive. We can never have too much pitching, I guess.

11) Bobby Abreu - Well he just signed with the Angels, so this is pointless.

There ya have it folks. What do you think? Is there anyone else you think we should get/look at/pursue? Agree...Disagree? Let me know :)

As always,

-Kristen

I def agree with you on the SS position. Green and Lowrie are great players, despite injuries. Unfortunatly, Seattle probably wont let Hernandez go, but hey, it was a nice thought right! Haha! Im glad we didnt pick up Alex Gonzalez's contract for the 2010 season, I dont know about you but I wasnt overally thrilled with him. Hopefully we pick up someone who has experience and can do a good job on the infield. :) ...View More

I want Bay to come back as well. I think he is being smart by exploring Free Agency but I think he'll be back. I like Adrian Gonzalez but I don't want to give up too much to get him. There is no way Seattle will let Felix Hernandez go. I'm with Mel and think the SS situation is set with Nick Green and Jed Lowrie, but would like to a veteran brought into Spring Training to create competition. ...View More
