 Hello Red Sox fans!

I haven't posted in a long, long time!  I have been lurking and reading other people's blogs.  I have been very involved in trying to keep my "day" job, hoping I'm not getting ready to join the ranks of the unemployed again.  It would not be a good thing at my age to lose my job like I did in 2007.

I don't "do" football, so I have been anxiously waiting for pitchers and catchers to come, and it's here now.  My long sports hibernation is over!  I am excited about our 2011 season.  I am also keeping my eye on Casper Wells, Detroit outfielder, a young man from Schenectady. who played Little League ball with my son many years ago.  Cap was a couple of years younger than my son--a hard worker, nice kid.  I am cheering for him, hoping he stays in the show.  He deserves to make it big.  I used to announced the Little League games when my son played, and I remember Cap when he wore a little grey uniform (his team was the best in the league) and his glove was almost as big as he was.  His parents are so proud of him, as they should be.  A very special young man.  I know he's not in a Sox uniform, but I'm still rooting for him!

I am still trying to fulfill what is the last thing on my "bucket list," and that is to sing the National Anthem at Fenway.  My friend David Roth, who's a wonderful singer from Orleans on Cape Cod, was invited by someone from the Red Sox to sing the Anthem sometime during the 2011 season.  I am so jealous!  I sing it at the minor league park here in upstate New York and have submitted my recording several times to the Sox, but no go.  Dr. Steinberg was supposed to help me before he left for the Dodgers.  I guess I'm relegated to single-A ball...(I don't try to turn the song into a rhythm-and-blues song--maybe because I sing it on pitch--unlike Christina Aguilera, I remember the words AND the tune!)

So those are a few ruminations as I just finished my Saturday night radio show.  I am heading off to Memphis for a folk music convention next week.  Rumor has it that it will be 60-65 degrees in Memphis.  Can't wait!!!
