i am sitting here on my couch watching the documentary "baseball" by Ken Burns. Re-learning all that i already know but thinking about how it used to be. This was the pure sport, the one that cheating wasnt supposed to happen. Steroids and cheating in general were supposed to stay out, this was the American game. We all love the game, fan of our beloved Sawx or not we all love it. The way it is different from every other sport. The way the players aren't 6 foot 8 and weigh 285 pounds. How we all played this game as a kid, or if your me, and still a teenager or kid are playing. How we can all relate to it in one way or another. What happened? How did this great game, the best leveler second only to death, become so polluted? Players being signed to ridiculous contracts when people in college and high school would play for so much less its not even funny. Players like Ted Williams, Buck O'neil, and yes Mantle and Gehrig, played with pure talent and will. Worked their tails off to get to where they ended up and making sure that they played that game honestly, for the love of the game, not for the money but for the sheer joy of it.
(Dont bring up the 1919 world series in this, please)
