Remember and give thanks to those who have brought us this far in life. Our military people who are away from their own families today, who protect our freedom to watch our beloved sports, watch our children grow and live our lives like we do.

Our families we will gather with, and while it may be a big hassle and you may argue over a football game or who gets the leg of the turkey, its really what life is all about. Not the Ipod touch, iphone or email. Shut yourself off from the rest of the world today to be with family and friends. You never know how life can change and whether or not this is someones last Thanksgiving.

I know this isn't a sports related commentary, but we as sports fans, we are passionate about our teams and we should also be passionate about those we see on a daily basis. Time gets away and that 6 year old is now starting college and that is time you never get back.

I can't wait for Black friday to be over. I get sick of those ads. Get up at 1:00 am to stand in line for what? Something that will still be available next week and perhaps a better sale? When I was a kid, I baked for my relatives. Cookies of all sorts and put them in a nice tin. My grandmother was thrilled and really, isn't  that what it's all about? Doing something from the heart instead of what retail stores tell us to do? "Come buy" and go into debt for the next 2 months.  Instead it should be " come by" and have some eggnog and dinner. Call some buddies you haven't seen in awhile for a few seasonal brews.

Many people ask, "what would Jesus do" in certain aspects of their lives. Do we really think Jesus would approve of the way people treat each other over a tickle me Elmo doll, or by beating someone up in the best buy parking lot over a playstation?  After all, it is HIS birthday we celebrate. Maybe I'm just getting old, but Christmas isn't what it used to be. I always make sure that I watch the specials like Charlie Brown, Rudolph and the others to make things a tradition in our house. Make time to be together to watch these classic treasures and decorate the tree together listening to our favorite christmas tunes.

So in closing, Go Sox, Go Pats and go spend some precious time with your families today.  I am thankful for mine and for this forum to express my usually sport related ideas and opinions. Happy Thanksgiving to all my Sawxheads friends, you know who you are and to Rafe and all of the Tru-fan members.
