..."That's all folks!".
Yes, that's all for the seaon. A sad and disappointing season. It would have been nice to see the Sox turn it on and try to mess with the Yankees or Orioles in their playoff positions, but no...couldn't even win the last game. To top it off, the manager, or ex-manager now, goes out and reads a text while biking and crashes into a ditch. Doesn't get much more pathetic than that.
There has been much discussion about bringing John Farrell back to Boston. Yes, he was a good pitching coach and I think the team respected him, but Toronto didn't do much better than Boston in the standings. So is this progress, or just another year of disappointment if he comes back?
Nice to see Tek back with the team in the office, he could be the next Johnny Pesky for Boston perhaps. Maybe even be manager some day.
Dustin Pedroia, being the heart and soul of this team needs to have more guys like him to complete a team that can move forward. He loves to play so much that he played the last few games with a broken finger and he's not sure what he'll do for the next few months without baseball. I have an idea, how about spending some time with your family and new baby. A nice change of pace from crappy team to crappy diapers.
So what I am hoping for now is that Baltimore knocks out the Yankees, the A's defeat Detroit and then knock out Baltimore in the ALCS and go to the World Series. Billy Beane would finally get his due.
So as we Red Sox fans have come to say, "there's always next year".........
