Ellsbury's steal of home is the first I've seen *live* and I feel blessed ! I'm still grinning form ear to ear! And then there's Snoopy and Charlie Brown of course. (Charlie Brown you blockhead!!!)
Stealing home plate is NOT an officially recorded statistic so research into this unusual feat is still considered on-going. Here is a list of players who had at least ten (10) documented steals of home during their career:
Have you ever seen a player steal home? Have you seen one steal home purely on speed? Take a moment and tell other fans about this unique feat on Baseball Fever.
The last National League player to steal second, then third, then home plate during the same inning was Eric Young of the Colorado Rockies on June 30, 1996. The last American League player to steal second, then third, then home plate during the same inning was Chris Stynes of the Kansas City Royals on May 12, 1996. The career record for these larcenous occurrences are four (4) in the American League by Ty Cobb and three (3) in the National League by Honus Wagner.
