Brad Penny Might Be Traded? Nah!

ESPN's Buster Olney suggests that Boston might trade Brad Penny "for a decent Grade B prospect before the trade deadline, with Clay Buchholz waiting in the wings and Daisuke Matsuzaka showing progress in his rehab."
Olney suggests the Brewers, who have need for a starting pitcher, might be a good landing spot for Penny. Adds Olney: "The Red Sox almost certainly would not offer Penny arbitration, so it makes sense for them to move him before the July 31 deadline just to recoup a little value."
However, Terry Francona has said "we didn't sign him to trade him". It is said that Penny has been much more valuable to the Sox than some might otherwise believe. So when the July 31 trading deadline approaches, Penny might end up staying with Boston. Francona has also said “We signed him to win. He’s worked hard. I only think it’s going to continue to get better.’’
Now we know that Boston has swerved the media before about trading a player, however I do not believe that is the case. If some of Penny's teammates complained about Penny, there would be more reason to believe this story. However Josh Beckett who was once Penny’s teammate with the Marlins, said Penny seems comfortable in Boston. “I’m glad they haven’t traded him and I hope they don’t,’’ Beckett said. “People talk about him being a No. 5 starter. I want you to show me the teams who have four starters better than that guy.’’
And so Buster Olney, to your trade rumor I say, "Nah". It does not make sense to trade Penny away for a grade B anything Buster. Why remove an important piece of the puzzle in order to prepare for a entirely new puzzle? Why take out our pitcher for someone most likely to sit in the minors? Where's your head man?
I do believe we will target someone for a trade, but I believe it will happen at either SS or at 1st base.
