ESPN SAYS BOSTON FANS ARE TOO QUIET!
|

Last nights game was a close one. Paps had to get 4 outs for the win and when runners were in scoring position, you could have heard a pin drop from the fans. We were all so quiet; so busy chewing our nails that we were not helping out our team.
ESPN said, 'usually the fans become the 10th man but, in Boston that is not the case, they are so scared something wrong is going to happen." I am ashamed that this lack of help from the fans continues year after year after year. When I go to games I shout as loud as I can, even when we are losing because I want to contribute. True fans need to contribute as best as they can. True fans can blog about their team, even challenge their team from time to time as I do, we can wear our hats and team shirts with pride, but please what is most important is to shout out encouragements, cheer your team on and help them get some emotion when they are tired.
Do not give ESPN the satisfaction of making us seem like we are not behind our team.

Does Boston Think Too Highly of Their Prospects?
|

The Boston Red Sox showed signs of life when they offered opposing teams several prospects to choose from; they did this to obtain ready to go talent. However, the prospects that other teams wanted were not made available. I wonder, if Boston was willing to let a few of their talented prospects go, in order to land the sort of player we needed to reach the playoffs?
It seems to me, ever since we let go Hanley Ramirez in order to obtain Josh Beckett, Boston has been holding onto the once bitten twice shy motiff. Sure, Beckett was a great return, but losing Hanley has hurt us tremendously. We have not had a solid player at SS since Nomar left. We have had highlights from a few of our SS players, but obviously none of been effective enough to receive a long term contract.
I wonder, if Boston was willing to let go their prospects, would we have been able to land Hernandez from Seattle? I wonder still, if Boston will look to grab Hernandez for next season.
We did give up Masterson and he did well for the other team, and if we cannot expect our prospects to come in and make an immediate impact, it might be well to move some of them for help now. Of course it is too late, but the opportunity will come again next year, and next year I pray we do not fail to meet the needs of our team. We need help at SS and we need help with pitching. If there was anyway to obtain Hernadez and give up Lars Anderson and Dice K, I would do it. Lars has been struggling and if we sign Victor to a long term contract, we will not need Lars.
So what do you say Nation? Is it worth giving up prospects to obtain ready to help talent? I say yes. I say we keep two or three to keep our team young and to keep some home grown talent with us, but let us learn from our mistakes and get rid of some while they are hot. Obviously not all our prospects will become ACES and not all our bats will become ALL STARS. Make the move now and let us see what we shall see.
Good Luck Boston, we are cheering for you.

It seemed obvious, half of our pitching is depleted. Our SS are has issues and yet we kept things going with our SP's. We had zero's across the board. Yet after our SP's leave, all hell break loose.
I still say we needed pitching and that Smoltz and Penny were not the answer. I am looking into who we could obtain off of waivers, but there is nobody who looks promising. We cannot bring up our prospect pitching because we cannot take the risk of on the job training.
Even with the addition of Victor, we could not bring home the runs. Boston we needed tweaking and we only got one single tweak. Our division is too darn solid to think we can get by on luck.
My only solution is to clone Beckett and Lester, then we will be fine.
SIGH..
I really, hate when I am right.

Is Victor going to be enough to beat the Yankees?

We are 8 and 0 against New York this year. On April 24th (my birthday), Boston gave me another great present with an awesome comeback. However, now things are different. We do not have Dice K, we do not have Manny, Jason is hurt and our rabbit that is John Smoltz has yet to be successfully pulled out of the hat.
When we first beat the Yankees this year they did not have Arod and we did not have Victor and so I wonder if the addition of Victor will be enough to even split this series.
Sadly my blind devotion to all things Red Sox does not protect me from wondering how we can possibly dominate New York during this series. We still have issues with errors thanks to our shortstop concerns. We still have issues with power thanks to David Ortiz's struggles. Our pitching is anything but dominant and I was very much surprised to see that we did not obtain better pitching for the second half. Yes, we went after Hernandez, but since we did not obtain him, who do we fall back on? Penny? Smoltz? Buchholz?
Although I would love to see dominance over the Yankees once again, I am starting to believe that if we obtain a split during this series we will come out very lucky.
Your thoughts?

Boston, Why LaRoche for Kochman?

ESPN saw that it was clear, other web sites saw it was clear and so did a few of us fans here in the Nation; we all thought it was clear that Boston needed a solid defensive minded SS. It made no sense to me to obtain Casey except that we traded up in batting average.
Are you still going to look in the waivers or are you content in what you have. Green has made a ton of defensive errors which is a big, big thing. We won the 2004 World Series by trading for Defense.
I know we have two SS, one who has a better defensive mind yet I was so sure you were going to trade LaRoche for a SS. At least I was right that LaRoche was not long for Boston but Casey? I guess he will play a utility role to back up Victor when and if he backs up Victor. Otherwise Victor will own 1B.
Any thoughts nation?
