Beckett pitched a great game last night, but ended up on the wrong side of the loss column . Initially a solo blast by Howie Kendrick gave L.A. the lead in the third 1-0, but the lead was short lived as Jason Bay and Jacoby Ellsbury homered in the fourth Giving the Sox a 3-1 lead , a lead that we would hold for most of the evening.
The angels cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth on back to back doubles by Jeff Mathis and Chone Figgins, they would later tie it up in the seventh, on a single by Kendrick , a double by Izturis and a pitch by Beckett who bounced a third strike between Variteks legs allowing a run
Beckett was replaced by Wagner in the ninth ,and Wagner promptly walked Juan Rivera to lead off the inning , pinch hitter Reggie Willits sacrificed him to second , Kendrick (“theres that name again “) blooped his third hit of the evening over Pedroias head to make it 4-3 angels .
A sweep would have been nice, but “two out of three ain’t bad “ and as Carl Yastrezmski once said, “some times you dont make an out, some times the other guy gets you out“ I am willing to give the angles timely hitting (Kendrick) the benefit of the doubt here ,
So wipe the slate clean, keep the faith, and bring on the birds
Tonight @ 7:05 Clay Bucholz 5-3 faces J. Guthrie 10-14 at the yard
As we will once again go bird hunting,
make sure we are locked and loaded, click pop splat !!
as we again attempt to bag our share of Birds .
so shall it be written so shall it be done .
