The Red Sox last night got some help from one of the most unlikely of sources ,

As Dice K. returned to action for the first time since June 19th .

Not only did Dice K. return , he conquered , pitching six innings of scoreless ball against our likely first round playoff foes the L.A. Angels.

Dice K. was masterful striking out five and walking just three as he defeated Lackey and rekindling hopes he could help Boston in the playoff run .

The win increased Boston’s wild card lead to six games and cut the Yankees division lead to Six.

David Ortiz hit his 270th home run in the D. H. spot a new record , and timely offense was provided by JD drew and Jason Bay as well,

Paplebon overcame a shaky start to nail down the win , which now has Boston fans , thinking a division title is not out of the realm of possibility . The Yanks cooperated by dropping their contest with Totonto 10-4 as Roy Halliday stymied the Yanks for his 15th win .

To put the icing on the cake Posada and LA reliever Carlson got into a scrap near the New York Dugout which lead to a benches clearing brawl, Oh how sweet it is, to watch the Skanks falling apart under pressure.

Don’t forget the Sox and Yanks still have a three game series to play at the stadium coming up the 25th -27th , and oh yeah they finish off their season with those pesky Ray’s the first week of October.

wouldn’t it be great if that series determined the A.L. East ?
