Buzzworthy - Feature It!

While watching the Sunday afternoon game against Texas, and watching Dice-K struggle with his control, I couldn't help but wonder where the Sox are going to put all of their pitchers.

We all know that Penny is on the trading block - that's a given. Although he has had a fairly solid start to his year, he seems to be odd man out. Then there's John Smoltz, who has been having a terrific rehab stint in Pawtucket; most recently, six innings of shutout ball. The talk is that he will make one more rehab start, then come up to the big club. But, to be put where? Who will sit?

And, let's not forget about Clay Buchholz. It's his time. He's pitching "lights out" for Pawtucket, yet there's no room for him in Boston. How long can the Sox management keep him down?

It's a great position to be in, by having too much pitching. But, I can't help but think that something has got to give. Could there possibly be a big trade looming that would bring another huge bat to Beantown?

I don't profess to have all of the answers, just a lot of questions. I just hope that it all becomes clear, in the very near future.

A 6-man rotation will not work. Pitchers are creatures of habit. They need to throw on a regular basis. Besides, when contract provisions depend upon number of starts by a pitcher, I do not see someone like Beckett giving up another five starts per year.

I think...that Penny was signed to "fill a slot" But now I feel he's more of a trading tool. I think the Sox planned all this. Using Penny as a stepping stone so to speak. Lots of teams need a SP like him right about now. Yes he gives us a "decent" 5 - 6 innings IF our Bats are hitting ... otherwise he's just (to Me) another Starter looking for a home. Lester and Beckett have been F'n Blank lights out lately and DK welllll he should be , but that's the Pitch'n Staff's issue right now. BUT You're right Mr. Ear, my friend... Penny is an Odd Man Out. And there's one thing that keeps replay'n in my Brain regarding Penny. The game that he blasted Julio and Dustin on a "mis-play" error, on the field. Regardless right or wrong that's NOT appropriate behavior from a "Newbie". He was shown later after that inning apologizing to Lug and Ped for his out burst .. but still it made me look at him a bit differently. Know what I mean ?? The Sox have some pitching to spare... what we need now is a bat ... preferably one that can play an infield position !!!! ...View More
